One more great race for one Eagle runner was held at Warwick Valley on Saturday, November 11 as Paulina Nunez added another highlight to her senior season running for the Section 1 team. Joining seven runners from Bronxville and a runner from the Croton-Harmon, Pleasantville, Edgemont, and Albertus Magnus teams, Paulina finished in the 8th spot (20:05.2) for her team as the 28th overall runner to help her team win the Girls Class C title with 180 points (top 10 spots count in sectional scoring). Tori Flannery of Bronxville was the top Section 1 finisher in 4th place as her Bronco team finished second to Section 2's Greenwich, which had the top 2 finishers with Caitlin Lane and Emily Fung.
The Girls Class C Section 1 team joined the Boys Class B Section 1 team as state champions, though no school team from section 1 won a championship. Other runnerups beside Bronxville included Boys Class B Byram Hills, Boys Class C Pawling, and Girls Class A Horace Greeley. Top boys runner from Section 1 was Julian Sheinbaum from Scarsdale, and Suffern's Shelby Greany battled an asthma attack to finish 4th in the AA race as the top Section 1 girl.
Congratulations to Paulina as she brings in another championship honor while running with an outstanding group of girls. A small but very supportive contingent of Dobbs folk were at Warwick to root her home on a gorgeous day, and they got to see a great race.
