Wortners Go to Running Camp

Hi Coach

Brendan and I just got back from Cross Country Camp in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, and it was great! The coaching staff really pushed us to our limits in running, and it was challenging at first, but I really think that all of the training has improved our running potentials. Here is what a typical day at the camp was like:

7:30 am: Wake up

8:00 am: Breakfast

9:00-11:30 am: Workout 1 (which starts out with some drills like skipping, but in different ways, and some stretching exercises, then continues into a different workout, depending on the coach's mood, followed by an abb/back workout)

Noon: Lunch

2:30-4:30 pm: Workout 2 (usually same as Workout 1, but without drills in beginning)

5:30 pm: Dinner

7:00 pm: Lecture (A guest speaker comes in and talks to us about lots of running info, like racing tips, goal setting, nutrition, what to do after running, etc.)

8:30-9:30 pm: Activities/Pool

10:30 pm: Lights Out

There were other teams up there; some familiar, like Pawling and Newburgh, and others whom I thought were some of the best runners I had ever seen. I really would like to have our team succeed this year in both cross-country and track, and I think that if we could get more people to come to the camp next year, then we would become a better team.
