Modified Closes Out Season With Big Kick
The Modified Track team ended its 2008 season on May15 at Irvington against many of the usual schools, such as Edgemont and the host Bulldogs. On a mostly gorgeous day of sun and showers, the Eagles finished the job with more sterling performances.
Times and places aren't officially available, but among the observed results that stood out were Connor Culhane's strong win in the 1600; Shanna Yue's 2nd in the 1500 as she led a pack of runners including Mary Constant and Rebecca Wiersma over the line at a shade over 6:00 with Chloe Wang and Clara Winder close behind, and Megan Moynihan leaned to an apparent 2nd in the 200 to go with a good race in the 100. The 4x100 relay teams both picked up 3rds and Louis Debellis had a photofinish for 2nd in the 400. Not sure about results in the 800, long jump and other events, but I expect there was also some good news there. Some pics and videos are posted of the 2nd half of the meet for personal perusal.
Congrats to all the athletes for a great year that saw a number of school records and outstanding development. Many of the Eagles are looking forward to the fall cross-country season, winter Track and either Varsity or Modified spring Track next year, and expectations are growing. Great job and hopefully a lot of fun to the end.
