Men's cross country stampede to win
Van Ingen and Gaube sweep top two places
Grand Island, N.Y.- Continuing the strong start to the season, sophomore Erik van Ingen and junior Chris Gaube finished in first and second place respectively, while senior Katie Radzik came in third for the women at the annual UB Stampede Invitational at Beaver Island State Park on Grand Island. The men placed first out of eleven teams while the women were fourth out of ten squads.
Van Ingen cruised to the finish line, completing the 8,000-meter course in a time of 25:48.4. Close on his heels was Gaube (25:51.1) and sophomore Adam Quinn (26:08.5) who placed fourth. Rounding out the bearcats top five was 12th place finisher sophomore Andrew Ugolino (26:23.0) and junior Jonathan Peffley (27:05.6) who came in 23rd.
On the women's side, Radzik raced to the finish line, completing the 5,000-meter course in a time of 18:19. Following Radzik were sophomore Ashley Horton finishing 15th (19:16), senior Jamie Schulte finishing 16th (19:17), sophomore Paulina Nunez placing 21st (19:43), and senior Jennifer Hastings placing 22nd (19:47).
The mens squad finished with five in the top 25, while the women claimed seven spots of the top 25.
Both squads return to action at the Lehigh Paul Short Run on Oct. 3, starting at 11:00 a.m.
