Sarah King wows the crowd at sectionals

Don't ever count out Sarah King. After being overlooked all season, Sarah King took Coach's motto of "there is only one race that counts -- Sectionals" to a new level. Sarah was only ranked 9th coming into Sectionals. We knew she was going to need a BIG race if she wanted to make the State meet. One of the things that we have learned by running Bowdoin so many times, is that course will make you pay big time for going out too hard. Sarah started out the race right where she was ranked at the mile mark. When she went into the woods she came out looking like a machine having passed three or four girls on the hill that we train for. The real excitement came when Sarah came into the finish sprint with rival Annie Field of Irvington and last year's Sectional Class C champ Tori Flannery of Bronxville. With about 150 meters and a little hill to go, I asked Sarah not to wait and to kick from that point on. Sarah dug deep and unleashed a ferocious sprint that left her competitors in the dust. I have to say that was one of the more impressive runs that I had witnessed that day. Good luck at States, Sarah.
