Binghamton Bearcats and Paulina Nunez get 6th at Big Paul Short \ Lehigh Invitational
More than 100 college teams lined up at the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh on Friday, October 2. The teams were divided between three different 6K races (Brown, Gold, White), and ex-Eagles' captain Paulina Nunez was running in the Brown race with her Binghamton Bearcats squad. In the same race last year, Binghamton finished 31st with Paulina being the fourth Bearcat finisher in 23:04 for 176th place. The Bearcats had to be happy with their huge leap in the standings this year as they finished 6th out of 39 teams behind Kutztown, Bloomsburg, Dickinson, Rutgers, and Buffalo. Paulina ran 4 seconds behind her 2008 time at 23:08 but moved up 111 places to 65th in claiming the fourth spot for the Bearcats. Rachel Miura led the Bearcats at 31st, followed by Kim Law in 50th, Alicia Finger 59th, Terry Powell 92nd, Shannon Finnegan 101st, and Lindsay Raulli 113th. A steady stream of runners flowed across the line as the first 304 runners finished within 229 seconds of each other. There is an article about the Bearcat's meet on the Binghamton site, though the link to Paulina's info looks extraordinarily like Rachel Miura's.
The Binghamton guys got 11th in the White race, their best finish ever. Next up is the Penn State Open on Friday, October 16.
