Eagles to Open Invitational Season at Big Red

Posted Thursday, September 09, 2010 by Perry King
Eagles Appear Ready to Roll at Somers

Following a little season kickoff at Irvington on Tuesday on the first day of school, the Eagles appear set to head north for a Saturday, September 11 meet at Somers HS after a wild party at the Wiersmas on Friday. The team last ran there in 2008 when they won the boys D2 race and Pat Wortner took the individual title. This year the boys are a little more of an unknown, and they will again be running in the D2 race for smaller schools that Somers should dominate, though the Eagles' Brendan Wortner is the projected top runner, and George Epstein is 11th rated in the race. The girls team looks to be about the 4th strongest in the race, which Pearl River should completely dominate. Sarah King returns as the 4th rated runner behind three Pirates.

Competition should be great, so get up there if you can. Meet preview is at the new Section 1 \ NYS Running site at:    Somers Big Red Preview
