Dobbs Ferry 5K Times and Places

The results of the Dobbs Ferry 5K Labor Day race held on September 5, 2011 are listed below for places 1-50, with the rest (51-91) following in a Part 2 due to site-posting size limits.

Kevin Beganics of the Bonx won on the men's side for the second year in a row, and Sarah King of Dobbs also took her second women's title in a row. Great weather for the race, and as always there were a few young runners just beating their parent companion over the line at the end of a grueling 5K. There were also a few Dobbs XC parents doing their best to make their offspring proud (woo hoo, Penelope). Names and hometowns are filled out as best as can be deciphered, but please remember to print the full info legibly on the registration forms. Searching on phone numbers only goes so far in helping to puzzle out the details. Congrats to Matt Arone and the hardworking staff and volunteers of the Dobbs Department of Recreation for hosting another great race with the usual nice weather.

Highlight of the race was appearance of the last two runners, Xenia Frisby and Andrew Bomback of Hastings, who were accompanied by a runner soon to be born who was kicking all the way to the finish. Some younger runners who can actually count their birthdays included the 14-under groups, in finishing order of Phoebe Ward, Elizabeth Bloom, and Anna Davis for the girls who ranged in age from 7 to 11. The young guys included Grant Rubin, Sean Cadonhead, Isaiah Rerrie, and Chris Capuano, who were in the 8 to 14 age range. On the slightly older side of these young harriers were Bob Glover of Sleepy Hollow who sped to a 25th place to take the 60s battle on the men's side ahead of an experienced bunch that included Steven Petlick, Wayne Rubin, Doug Epstein, Julian Leventhal, Alan Brownstein, and Roger Kubarych. Janet Wynn dominated the women's 60s side of the action with a huge 56th place. Matching the 14-under boys winner, Judy Rubin of White Plains starred with a jaw-dropping 24th place to lead a trio of 50s pursuers that included Cheryl Broas, Joanna Rock, and Kristi Kliemann.

Other age-group winners included for the men: Alex Vidal (15-19), John Slosson (20-29), Steven Schindler (30-39), Patrick McCarthy (40-49), and Perry King (50-59).

Other age-group winners for the women included Katherine Loomba (15-19), Emmily Chelanga (30-39), and Marjory Selig (40-49).

And fun was had by all. See'ya next year, same time, same place.
