As a coach I asked my runners to take it one race at a time. If you have a good race GREAT, if you have a bad race move on. I give my runners 24hrs to think about their last race and then asked them to mentally move on to the next. Brendan must have took that to heart as he did not have the race that he would have liked to have had at the State Championships placing 6th. Brendan was selected to represent Section 1 at the Federation Championships. We came up with a pre-race plan that had Brendan not putting too much effort in the 1st mile, He came through at 5:11ish, and looked relaxed. The plan from here on out was to just start picking his way through the field of runners and to go with any groups that were moving forward. ( Its one thing to have a plan its another to be able to actually follow it exactly ). Brendan continued passing others runners like a runaway train. This was one of those special days that everything went PERFECT. Brendan not only placed 9th but also set a new BOWDOIN PARK Personal record of 16:12.9
